India is rapidly establishing itself as an eminent education platform. The recent revolutionary educational development in India has surpassed all the predictions of scholars around the world. As of now, there are more than 567 universities and over 30 thousand affiliate colleges in India. Every individual college teaches multi-various streams like Science, Arts, Mass Communication, Management and many more. There are special colleges too that teach specialized courses such as Engineering, Medical science, Aerospace science, etc.

Indian government has designed its education system in order to fulfill the academic requirements of students, both national and foreign. Each of these educational courses are modernized and meticulously tested to support the changing needs of the students, who are pursuing their higher education. With enhanced funding and precise planning, the new face of education is finally shining through the veil of superstition and illiteracy. Characterization of Colleges in India
Basically, they are of 2 types:
  • i. Government colleges
  • ii. Private colleges
Although the private colleges have their own set of rules and regulations, they are basically guided by the guidelines laid out by the educational system of India.
Government Colleges
Government colleges maintain the basic infrastructure of Indian education system. Recent research shows that more than 588000 teachers have been recruited in schools and colleges of India and the government colleges account for more than 20% of them. The best government colleges have succeeded in training students to compete and win in this highly competitive world. Some of these top colleges in India include IIT (Kanpur), Indian School of Mines, College of Engineering – Anna University, Jadavpur University – Faculty of Engineering & Technology.
Private Colleges
According to the recent statistics, more than 65% colleges in India are operated by the private players. Only 35% are operated by the government. A few private colleges that have become popular among the students all over the world are Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Vellore Institute of Technology, Maharashtra Institute of Technology, RV College of Engineering, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology and many more.
